Find My Bottom Bracket

To accurately determine the bottom bracket standard of your frame, it is best to remove your crankset, as well as any installed cups or bearings. Then follow the 4 steps listed below. Note that the “bottom bracket shell” is the part of the frame where the bottom bracket is mounted.

Good to know: You can replace only the bearings in Elvedes bottom brackets.

Step 1. BB Type

There are two types of bottom brackets:

* Threaded bottom brackets

* Press-fit bottom brackets

Identify whether your frame is threaded or not.

Good to know: There are press-fit bottom brackets where the cups thread together internally. This helps eliminate creaking and improves durability.

Step 2. Frame BB Shell inner diameter

Measure the inner diameter of the bottom bracket shell using a caliper. This is the part of the frame where the bottom bracket is installed.

A caliper or a dedicated measuring tool is recommended.

Step 3. Shell width

Measure the total width of the bottom bracket shell using a caliper, measuring tape, or ruler.

Step 4. Crank Spindle Diameter

Measure the diameter of the crank spindle using a caliper.

Some brands use two different spindle diameters. For example, SRAM uses a 22/24 mm spindle on GXP cranksets.
