SOSHanger does not have a complete database of all derailleur hangers. Hanger compatibility is the result of our own research, customer feedback, and information shared with us by manufacturers.

Our database is constantly updated with both new and old bicycle frames.

We offer two ways to identify a hanger:

* Using our search filters

* Identification using a photo.

Filter hangers by mounting type

1. Number of fastener

Filter by the number of screws used to attach the hanger to the frame:

* Hangers may be attached with no screws (the axle clamps the hanger directly)

* They may be fastened with 1, 2, 3, or more screws.

2. Shape of the step: This is the part that goes against the frame

Filter by the shape of the contact surface:

* Hangers often have a clearly identifiable contact surface shape. If you are unsure, it is best not to specify this information.

"Other" Step

In this example, the hangers with a 12 mm axle do not have a contact surface shape that fits the frame, only an opening for the axle.

3. Mounting Type

We have categorized the way the hanger mounts to the frame into 4 types:

* Internal mounting: The hanger mounts inside the frame.

* External mounting: The hanger mounts outside the frame.

* Sandwich mounting: The hanger mounts on both sides of the dropout.

* Other: Some hangers may have “unusual” mounting styles, which we have grouped into this category.

Some models mount from the top or bottom, or use specific mounting designs.

4. Axle Diameter

There are several rear axle diameters. We have categorized them into 3 types:

- 9 mm (Quick Release axle): One of the most common standards.

- 12 mm: The second most common standard. 12 mm thru-axles are either screw directly into the hanger or into a locknut. WARNING: Axles come with different thread pitches. Please refer to our wheel axle guide for more information.

- Other: Some bicycles use 10 mm rear axles or other uncommon sizes.

Email us a photo

Not sure? No problem, we’re here to help!

Send us a photo of your hanger and/or frame by email, and we’ll let you know which model to order. It’s simple, fast, and most importantly, it helps you avoid mistakes.

Take photos of the hanger removed from the bike:

* From both sides

* Taken straight on (not at an angle)

* Even if the hanger is broken, put the pieces together as best as possible — we’ll take care of the rest.

* Examples shown in the two photos below →

Is the hanger missing? No problem. Simply take photos of the frame where the hanger mounts.

* Remove the wheel and axle, then take a photo of the dropout where the hanger mounts

* Take photos of both sides, directly in front

* Example shown here →
